Imagine being super excited about your engagement session that’s scheduled for the next day. Everything is prepared to perfection – the engagement photographer, the outfit, the locations. You are probably going around your house practicing your poses with your partner, and then, at the last minute, both the outfits you had planned to wear for the shoot give up on you. That is a bride’s nightmare come true. But my bride-to-be, who had to go through this exact ordeal a day before her engagement session, handled it like a champ!
The night before Melissa and Bryan’s engagement session with me, one of the straps on Melissa’s dress broke. Then, the other dress she had planned to wear got a hole in it from steaming. But instead of canceling the session or having a meltdown (which would totally be understandable too!), a couple of hours before our session, my bride-to-be dropped by the mall, grabbed some dresses from the most unlikely of stores, and bam! It was a smoke show!
I had a blast with Melissa and Bryan! We started in Madison and got some gorgeous couple portraits. The light and airy images with the Hartley Dodge Memorial in the background turned out to be so amazing! And I have to say, my super photogenic couple certainly helped with how good the photos look.
Next, we headed over to the Central Park of Morris County for some golden hour photographs. With so much lush greenery and the gorgeous cherry blossom trees adding the perfect touch to the photos, the park was ideal for engagement photos. Melissa’s dress also perfectly complemented the setting, which helped to enhance the beauty in the pictures. Good choice, Melissa! The park pretty much exceeded all of our expectations for lighting and it allowed us to easily meet the vision my couple had for their engagement photos. They walked under the trees, held hands, embraced each other, and looked into each other’s eyes with love. This is the magic of engagement sessions, I guess. Love just flows free!
Melissa and Bryan changed their outfits, and we moved to another part of the park for more romantic portraits. The couple looked so relaxed and happy. During the shoot, they talked to each other, laughed, kissed, and gave me their best angles. Honestly, at that moment, no one (not even I) could have guessed something had gone wrong a day before the shoot. I loved how Melissa and Bryan didn’t let the dress hiccup ruin their special day. They focussed on what was important – celebrating their love and this new chapter in their lives.
Melissa and Bryan, thank you for giving me this lovely opportunity to be your engagement photographer. The day spent with you was fantastic, and you two were a delight to work with. I enjoyed capturing the happiness and the bond you two share and am looking forward to collaborating with you in the future too. I wish you both the best!
