Mekina excels at drinking coffee in the morning + champagne at night, wearing blue, busting a move on the dance floor... and oh, capturing genuine moments for fun couples in love. Based in the greater NYC area Mekina loves traveling home to TX + NC and around the world whenever she gets a chance.

An Old Ursuline Convent Wedding with Rachel and Buddy –
Rachel + Buddy met in college at Elon University. Rachel had been selected by the fraternity as the fraternity sweetheart. As sweetheart, she served as the “female face” of the fraternity. Buddy was a Sophomore and pledge to the same fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha. When the pledges were done with fraternity tasks and obligations she would hang out with them, which is how she and Buddy got to know one another.
After graduating that year, Buddy and Rachel remained close and decided to “try out” dating. That summer, she visited Buddy at his home in Montclair, NJ and got to experience NYC for the very first time. They spent the first year of their relationship with him at Elon and with her in Raleigh, only seeing one another on weekends.
Soon, Rachel moved down to Mississippi when she accepted a job with Teach for America. The town was small (population approx.. 3,800) with the greatest attraction being Walmart. When Buddy came for his first visit they decided to escape to New Orleans. This is when their mutual love for the city began. Buddy and Rachel visited New Orleans two more times before he left for a year in Australia. Rachel’s second year in Mississippi, Buddy was in Australia. As she finished up her time in Mississippi and he finished his year in Australia, they decided they’d take the next step in their relationship and she would join him in New York. Even while in New York, they still found themselves visiting New Orleans.
The list was long when as they tried to decide where to get married. Raleigh, Montclair, Rhode Island, Asheville? There really wasn’t a single place that really got them excited. Since New Orleans was so significant for them while they were dating and a place they both shared a love for, Rachel suggested New Orleans. Buddy responded, “hell yes!” and that was that.
I’m obsessed with this photo and the people in it!
If love is in the details then I fell in love on their wedding day too!
A few touching speeches!
Out of control, AWESOMENESS.
This was the most insane 2nd Line experience I have ever seen!
Thank you Rachel + Buddy for allowing me to capture your amazing weekend! It was such a joy capturing the happiness you two bring to your friends, family and of course to one another!
