How To Help Your Photographer On Your Wedding Day

I’ve had the opportunity to photograph many weddings over the years. After this summer I’ll be hitting that 200 mark which allows for some reflecting on what can make your photographer’s life a little easier on your wedding day. Now the last thing you want to worry about is your photographer. However, these five tips will help keep things picture perfect and your overall schedule on point from the very beginning of the day.How to help your photographer on your wedding day
1) Calling all details! I can’t stress how helpful it is to have all your details in one place, both for the bride and the groom.
BRIDE: Invitation suite, rings and jewelry.

GROOM: Shoes, socks, cufflinks, watch and tie.How to help your photographer on your wedding day

2) Backgrounds… If you’re getting ready in a hotel room then backgrounds for your details are sometime’s few and far between. If you spot a specific background (fabric or paper) you like, such as a floral print or stripes that coordinate with your wedding colors bring it along. It adds more of an editorial flair and it will allow your photographer to spend less time trying to find a clean location to photograph the details. How to help your photographer on your wedding day

3) Separate getting ready room. There are parts of a wedding day that are a little uncontrollable. Between the equipment for hair and makeup and the bags and such from your bridesmaids, the room you thought you were getting ready in has suddenly become a messy disaster. I recommend using your mom or mother-in-law’s hotel room for the getting into the dress portion of getting ready. 🙂
4) Nominate a helper. Nominate your sister, aunt, or that friend who is practically family and knows who everyone is and give their number to your photog and vise versa. This will be the point person when your photographer arrives to the hotel and needs to find your room without worrying you. That person will definitely come in handy later to gather the different family groupings for family portraits. This will help your photographer capture the moments of your day quickly and efficiently. How to help your photographer on your wedding day

5) SMILE 🙂 It’s your wedding day! Relax, smile and have comfort knowing your photographer has got it covered!
