Happy Memories for a Happy Father’s Day!

When I go home for the holidays I find myself disappearing into the attic. There in the darkness of a room filled with almost forgotten, dust collecting memories are precious treasures. Many times I’ll play dress up, trying on old prom dresses, partly because I want to see if they still fit and partly because I want to relive the experience. Once I embark on memory lane there’s no turning back and I eventually get to the thousands of pictures I have stored away. I start with my early college years, then to High school, middle school and of course baby pictures. However, when I was home this past Christmas break I stumbled upon my parents Wedding album. I’ve always loved weddings, but I wasn’t exactly sure I wanted to intrude on memories that weren’t mine and have since changed so drastically. Somehow, as I turned the pages through a 35 year old wedding album I couldn’t help but smile at the love that was once there and the love that is between a father and his daughter. I intrude on many brides on their wedding day, and have been fortunate enough to see moments like this picture of my mom on her wedding day as she gets ready to walk down the aisle with the man who loved her first. I look forward to the day where I’ll have the same picture with my dad. Happy Father’s day!
