When Emily contacted me about an opportunity to photograph her fashion line I didn’t hesitate. I was excited to shake things up a bit and do a photo shoot with her. She had two pieces she needed featured to launch her website and get the product to the public. We started out on a rooftop in Midtown and ended up in Central Park. It was a chilly New York City day but it was everything we had hoped it be and more. The garments are comfortable, chic, and made of a wool that is soft to the touch but keeps you warm and cozy.
Emily texted me the following week after our photo shoot sending a link to her website. I couldn’t get the site to load fast enough! Each spread displaying the images I had photographed. I was in awe of seeing the photographs come to life on her website and so excited for her and this business venture she was on.
Check out the lovely Selkies and her site here.
When I worked in the office setting I struggled to stay warm. I used to work near the water, downtown and it was freezing in our offices. I either wore a big ole college sweatshirt or a bulky, unprofessional sweater. I couldn’t believe this fabric and how warm it was for Emily during our shoot. She designed it for that purpose in mind. She wanted something professional but warm to just throw on at the office or if you were meeting clients and still wanted and needed to look professional.
Once we left the office the real chill set in, but it didn’t phase Emily. I think this was the ultimate test for me. Yes, I was just photographing the session but couldn’t help but think I wanted one too! It looks comfortable and I could totally wear it and look professional at a wedding. When I photograph weddings during the winter I hate having a bulky jacket. It’s in the way and gets warn down much quicker. I felt I had found my solution.
I like to travel and I do so pretty frequently. I’m always cold on a flight and throughout an airport unless I’m running to catch my flight. So, if and when I get my Selkie I will not be traveling without it! What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Thank you Emily for allowing me to photograph The Selkie! I enjoyed getting to know you and it is a joy to see your beautiful site come to life!
